Despite a rather terrible Japan game yesterday I had a super productive day. Other than picking up a wack of Fedex boxes, buying some supplies, mailing out bills and sending out some artwork I finally had time to go down to the passport office and crawl through their line-ups and waiting areas to hand in my paperwork. Luckily, the window lady I got was pretty cool and we talked about life and setting future plans efficiently. She was a single mother working long enough for her son to finish high school and then she was gonna quit, travel and go back to school. She wasn't too much older than me so it was inspiring to see someone who had the balls (well, guts in this case) to reset and start over. My hope to one day do culinary school still seems possible. So, I got my passport and some life counseling at once on a Monday morning. Booyah.

keith - you've got dibs.
ming - yeah, after cooking for myself throughout university and Japan, I came to realize I actually like it. The process of making a meal reminds me of making a painting or illustration with a lot of the emphasis on the process. I like that. So, yeah. Culinary school would be pretty cool. Med school? Frig. GO for it so you can save me when I'm an old fart.
frank - thanks, man!

There's something particularly therapeutic about cooking. I rarely get the time, but when I do I savor the experience.

keith - I agree. I like that everything you do shows in the result. There's something about striking the right balance in ingredients that's really fulfilling. And, damn. You get to eat it too!

That's why I took home ec in high school. Then all the other guys wanted me to save them tasty baked goods, but no baked goods would go to anyone but me. Ha ha! Oh, there were girls too. . .
