Mike Choi (Witchblade, X-23) has been in town so I hung out with him for a coupla days. Showed him around a bit. I love showing Japan to a first-timer. Well, I believe Mike said he had been here when he was 7 but that doesn't really count. The awe and enthusiasm they show is something I'll never experience again so it reminds me of how I was a long time ago and puts things into focus. Japan ain't perfect by any means but nothing is. It's nice to be re-enforced of the good on occasion.

This also relates back to comics in a way. I was in a slump all last month and couldn't bring myself to draw at all. It was wierd. Not being on a fixed schedule and not having deadlines kinda killed my motivation, I guess. Especially coming off of 3 years of having an editor pushing you and steady commitments to fullfill at Marvel to having absolutely no pressure from anywhere except yourself? I seem to have forgotten why I moved and what my job is. In the end, though, I think that month helped reset a lot of shit for me. It's sorta like taking one step back in order to go three steps forward. Anyway, I just reached my waxing quota for the week. Onward.

Haven't bought any darts yet. Can't seem to find a store that's open when I go.

Another page to show ya. This follows the one in the previous post so you can get an idea of the flow. It'll look cooler once it's toned.

PT - I found out over my 3 years with Marvel that it's next to impossible to improve with deadlines nipping at your heels. When in a crunch, I ended up doing what's comfortable but not necessarily innovative or new. It helps to take a break and draw other things once in a while but that's just me. Everyone's situation is different. Bills don't understand "breaks".
